Wizkid, Tems, Burna Boy, Ckay & Fireboy DML Nominated for iHeartRadio Music Awards
Nigerian musicians, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Tems, Ckay, and Fireboy DML have all been nominated in the Afrobeats Artist Of The Year category at the 11th edition of the iHeartRadio Music Awards 2023. Afrobeats has been on a steady climb to more and more global acclaim with songs topping international music charts. So the nomination of these Nigerian superstars comes as no surprise. In the lineup of nominees announced by iHeart Media and Fox Entertainment for the 2023 iHeartRadio Music awards, Tems received nominations in four other categories; Best R&B artist, R&B song of the year, Hip-Hop song of the year, and Best Collaboration. Rema was also nominated for Best Music Video (A Socially Voted Category) for the visuals of his remix of “Calm Down” with Selena Gomez. For their accomplishments in 2022, Fireboy DML and Rema have each received awards from the RIAA, the United States’ music certification organization. Fireboy DML and Rema have received recognition and acclaim from the RIAA, America’s music certification body, for their accomplishments in 2022. The musicians were listed in the RIAA class of 2022, a group of performers who in 2022 were awarded their first gold or platinum certification in the US. With the success of his single “Calm Down,” taken from his debut album “Rave & Roses,” Rema won his first gold certification in the US. With his massive global hit “Peru,” Fireboy DML also won his first gold certification in the US. Only these two musicians were selected for the 2022 class of the music certification organization.
