TALK TO US SPECIAL: AFROSELECTA-BBK

Welcome to this special edition of TALK WITH US, King Afroselecta BBK. We’re thrilled to have you here today. Let’s start by getting to know you officially. What’s your real name? Haha, it’s “David.” That’s the first name.   And what does BBK stand for? BBK is an abbreviation of the family name. It means “father of children.”   That’s interesting. What motivated you to become a producer and sound engineer? All glory goes to God. I couldn’t have imagined things would turn out this way. I actually thought I was going to study nuclear engineering. Wow, quite a shift in career paths! What was the startup like? How did you handle the challenges of financing and rejection from other artists? It’s been a testimony and a humbling experience, starting from one step to thousands and millions of steps and more. You should never despise small beginnings. God provided through friends and partners who believed in the process and supported us, even financially. Rejection is tough for anyone, but I’ve learned it’s not personal. In the industry, people tend to gravitate towards what or who is known. Understanding that no one is obligated to know you helps you focus more on perfecting your craft and promoting your work. If not music production, what career path do you think you would have taken? I thought I was going to play soccer at some point! Football was my other passion. We’ve heard that your brother, Laxy BBK, is also a singer. Have you been involved in his creative process? Yes, I’m his executive producer and I help manage him. What’s the biggest music project you’ve worked on so far? Every project I work on is big for me. When I share my work, it’s like showcasing my resume—a testament to what God has done for me. What does it take for an artist to work with Afroselecta BBK? It’s a privilege to work with any artist. However, these days, there’s a price (monetary level), and it keeps going up!
