Entertainment – BE HONEST!! Do You Really Enjoy Fela’s Music or You Are Just Following The Crowd?

Fela Anikulapo Kuti, commonly known as Fela, was a Nigerian musician, composer, and political activist who is considered the pioneer of the music genre known as Afrobeat. Born in 1938 in Abeokuta, Nigeria, Fela blended traditional Nigerian music with elements of jazz, funk, and highlife to create a unique and powerful sound that became the voice of a generation. Fela’s music was not just about entertainment; it was a means of social and political commentary. He fearlessly addressed issues of corruption, government oppression, and social injustice in his lyrics, often criticizing the Nigerian government and advocating for the rights of the common people. Fela’s music was infused with infectious rhythms, energetic horn sections, and his distinctive baritone voice, which captivated audiences and inspired them to question the status quo. Fela’s influence on Afrobeat is immeasurable. He revolutionized the music scene by incorporating complex polyrhythms, extended song structures, and improvised solos into his compositions. His fusion of traditional African rhythms with Western music styles created a new and vibrant sound that resonated not only in Nigeria but also globally. Afrobeat went on to inspire numerous artists across the African continent and beyond, becoming a genre that combines social and political activism with infectious grooves. Today, every artist claim to be inspired by Fela. Everyone says they love Fela’s songs. ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THAT? Do You Really Enjoy Fela’s Music or You Are Just Following The Crowd?
